UX Designer

Market America, a product brokerage and Internet marketing company that specializes in One-to-One Marketing, located in Greensboro, NC, is currently in need of a User Experience (UX) Designer. As a User Experience Designer, you love the web. You know it inside and you’re a fan of new technology and you understand established technology naturally and easily. You understand how people use websites and know how to approach creating usable interfaces designed to encourage specific key performance indicators. You’re familiar with all the big names in the usability arena and you might have a shrine dedicated to Steve Krug in your closet somewhere (you don’t have to own up to it).

 The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter who will work with internal Business Analysts and Business Owners as an integral part of our Marketing and Creative departments. Candidate must have the ability to multi-task and be able to use his/her knowledge of usability metrics to create and design a creative on-line experience for the Market America users. This is a creative position, and design skills are necessary.

 Principal Accountabilities:

  • Create and share mockups, wireframes, and/or functional prototypes to demonstrate proposed application functionality
    Research, analyze and understand business rules and processes in conjunction with project stakeholders in order to determine and prioritize anticipated user paths and logical process/transaction flows
    Participate in Agile/SCRUM projects to assess and contribute to usability of in-development projects
    Conduct web-based and in-person usability testing and assessment for projects
    Recognize global usability findings and work with Director of Interactive Design to convert findings to corporate best practice

 Job Requirements:

  • Four-year degree with concentration in Human Factors or UX Design
    2 to 3 years experience interacting with clients to develop interactive user interfaces for web sites
    2 to 3 years experience working in either an Internet consulting company or an ebusiness/Web communications area of a large corporation
    Basic design skills and a keen eye for opportunities to simplify user interaction
    Proficiency in one or more of the following: Visio, OmniGraffle, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator skills, User testing.com, Usabilla, Silverback, Camtasia Studio and Balsamiq
    Background in human factors, HCI, information architecture, user interface design, and/or interaction design, Omniture and/or Google Analytics Website Optimizer
    Familiarity with Content Management Systems, (Joomla, Drulpal, WordPress) and high-level grasp of XML, Jquery, Javascript and HTML5/CSS
    Fluency in best practice for web-based information architecture and design
    Strong knowledge of usability principles, issues and techniques for websites and application development
    Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
    Understanding of technical requirements and limitations is vital
    Would prefer solid HTML/CSS skills but not mandatory
