As User Experience (UX) Designer/Developer, you will be responsible for creating intuitive and compelling user experiences and user interface designs for the HORIZON LIMS product suite. You will collaborate as part of an agile team of creative and energetic software developers, analysts, and architects to bring vision concepts of product owners to market. 

• Delivering design concepts to help showcase product vision and ideas
• Delivering visual designs for a quality user experience measured by input collected through usability testing
• Gain a basic working knowledge of HORIZON LIMS within the first two months, understanding general concepts and challenges of its user base
• Become familiar with existing design concepts of the product suite to the extent that you are able to effectively design new features that implement your own ideas while continuing to present a cohesive product line within the first three months. 

• Work closely with product management coworkers to conceptualize product vision, goals, and features
• Collaborate with software development teammates to balance quality designs with feasible implementation approaches that result in a cohesive product suite with unbeatable user experience
• Create UX design concepts such as wireframes and prototypes to showcase product vision and get input from stakeholders 
• Deliver UI design artifacts to ensure designs and interactions are appropriately implemented in software products to meet user expectations
• Apply final styling to product web pages to ensure a consistently implemented design
• Conduct user interviews to gain insight and feedback towards influencing UX and usability decisions
• Participate in design reviews and openly provide feedback and guidance to peers

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required. 
• 2+ years of experience in UX, UI, and visual design for software products
• Proficient understanding of UX tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq, InVision, or similar creative design tools
• Expertise in HTML and CSS
• Experience working with Kendo UI libraries, Font Awesome, Bootstrap, or similar frameworks is strongly preferred 
• Experience with usability testing and gathering input through user interviews is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Design, Development, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
• Any experience in a scientific or laboratory background is a plus

• Ability to digest, comprehend, organize, and explain complex concepts
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively
