We are looking for a talented associate User Experience designer to join our team. Our User Experience team is a world class design firm inside of Allscripts made up of PhDs and MAs in design, psychology cognition, and nursing. We set design and style standards for company use along with providing embedded design and research support. We work on our large EHR products as well as our mobile and patient facing products. We train on user-centered design methods, provide support to the patient safety organization, and take part in other initiatives such as our clinician wellness program. Our team regularly presents at client and industry meetings on topics of HIT research and design.

The primary purpose of the associate UX designer role is to provide user research and design support to internal Allscripts product and solution teams as part of the Allscripts User Experience team. 

Collaboration – Work closely with our product management and software engineering teams to ensure that high quality user experiences are integral to our products. Work with product teams and program management to translate high-level business goals into actionable requirements. Meet and collaborate with users and development partners to validate conceptual designs.
Communication – Communicate look-and-feel guidelines and templates which embody our UX philosophy and goals. Provide rationale behind design decisions, and disseminate information to both product and technical teams. Documenting and presenting designs to a variety of different audiences. Manage time and work autonomously.

Assist in creation and maintenance of interaction and style guides and pattern libraries. Help elevate the application of user-centered design skills by product teams across the company.

CreationRapidly and collaboratively devise design approaches that balance time and technical constraints with users’ needs for efficient interactions in their critical tasks. Iteratively designing solutions that satisfy project goals, requirements, and design tenets based on research, design patterns, and UI standards.


  • Academic and Professional Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors, HCI, design disciplines or other similar degrees
  • Work/internship experience with user research and design activities
  • Must have a portfolio demonstrating your breadth of skill and design process

Strong domain expertise in-line with their product area of specialty.
Less than 3 years demonstrated success in creating innovative user experiences.
Should have ability to translate customer problems into design solutions
Demonstrates behaviors indicative of Allscripts values.
Experience with standard design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Axure)

Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel required for this role 

Working Arrangements:
Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
