CentralSquare is looking for UX designers who are passionate problem solvers interested in shaping the future of public safety. Ideal candidates will be obsessed with understanding user needs and building solutions to support them. This role will communicate and present to key stakeholders regarding user needs and design solutions. UX designers collaborate within cross-functional teams to deliver industry-leading user experiences across CentralSquare’s suite of products.


- Identify, organize, and conduct independent research to collect and analyze user behavior through usability studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, and benchmark studies
- Communicate research findings to cross-functional teams and customers through design solutions, written reports, and/or in-person presentations
- Develop strong domain expertise in order to reconcile design best practices with business needs
- Create user journeys, conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes
- Work with a UX researcher to execute user studies to validate design concepts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn research findings into actionable product requirements and deliverables
- Build consensus by presenting design work and rationale to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Stay updated on the latest developments, trends and thinking within UX design and share your knowledge and thoughts with both colleagues and clients
- Actively participate in improving cross-functional and Design team collaboration


- 5+ years of experience as a user experience designer, UX researcher, information architect or similar role
- Expert level knowledge of usability principles and techniques (information architecture systems, usability heuristics, research and requirement gathering, etc.)
- Desire to learn and educate others
- Excellent understanding of when to use different research methods during the product development process
- Proven track record of iterative design working closely with customers, peers, developers, and product managers from inception through implementation
- Ability to clearly communicate design problems and workflow solutions to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Ability to drive the design review cycle and close on design requirements independently
- Proven ability to develop expert domain expertise to influence stakeholders and customers way of thinking about proposed solutions and change management
- Portfolio that demonstrating experience with highly transactional/complex workflow design
- Travel: 25%
