Avalara’s UX team is growing and we need an experienced UX Researcher to gather insights about our users and be a champion of their needs. This position will partner with product teams to identify research opportunities, take the lead on administering usability tests, and help our team craft compelling experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct card sorts and evaluative research with assistance from senior UX Research team
  • Review, document, and report trends from recorded user sessions
  • Coordinate and recruit for user sessions
  • Prepare and conduct UserTesting.com sessions for UX and Product
  • Contribute to the various stages of persona development
  • Ability to create a variety of UX deliverables, such as journey maps, user flows, etc.
  • Prepare and conduct usability studies for UX and Product
  • Responsible for turning user research observations into reports that are presented to stakeholders
  • Create surveys for in-product usage and turn insights into guidance to the product team for improvements


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Bachelors or higher degree in a User Experience related field such as (HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences) [Or equivalent professional experience.]
  • Experience with current UX tools including InVision, Figma, FullStory, Qulatrics, or equivalent applications and solutions a plus
  • Experience conducting research for products with complex organizational hierarchies and persona sets a plus
