TriUXPA for Social Impact

TriUXPA for Social Impact is an initiative that connects businesses and non-profits doing social good in the world with short-term pro bono UX services provided by a team of community members that want to help. Our pilot project has just been completed. We'll notify our community via our newsletter and social media when the next round opens up.

We plan to open applications up for organizations that are doing good and want UX help as well. Keep an eye out for more information from us if you have an organization in mind!

If you're interested in learning more about the program or volunteering, please contact Ginger Poole (ginger.poole@triuxpa.org).

Our first project!

A team of TriUXPA members volunteered for the pilot project of Triangle UXPA UX for Good. The 7-week project included a redesign of the website for Apiopolis, a local urban bee sanctuary.

The volunteers included:

-        Ginger Poole, Lead UX Designer

-        Jenny Liao, Staff UX Designer

-        Keith Green, Staff UX Designer

-        Grace Montgomery, User Researcher, and Copywriter

-        Miranda Capra, Accessibility Consultant

The team worked with the founder Alice Hinman, and Candace Lacy. The team interviewed Alice, updated the IA, created copy, and redesigned the pages using Figma.  A Figma prototype was the final deliverable.

“I could not have been more impressed with this team . . .  They were incredible to work with - extremely organized, professional, engaged, and thorough. The team even scheduled time with an Accessibility expert to provide detailed direction on that subject . . .  The final deliverables will result in a clean, modern, elegant website that truly reflects the spirit of Apiopolis . . .  I encourage anyone who is even considering this program to participate, and I sincerely thank this team for the opportunity and their extraordinary work – THANK YOU!”

– Candace Lacy, web developer for Apiopolis

"Thanks so much for hosting and leading this opportunity! I'm really glad to have met and worked with everyone and it has been a phenomenal learning experience. I will sing its praises and recommend this opportunity to anyone pursuing the field!”

– Jenny Liao,  Team volunteer, Staff Designer
