TriUXPA for Social Impact

Mission

TriUXPA Social Impact exists to make human centered design more accessible to students, community groups, and socially focused organizations across North Carolina. Our mission is to create opportunities, strengthen communities, and support meaningful change through design education, mentorship, and collaborative initiatives.

What We Offer

TriUXPA Social Impact focuses on collaborative, educational, and research based support for community groups, students, and mission driven organizations. We partner with students and local practitioners to provide:

  • UX research support
  • Heuristic evaluations
  • Design mentorship and coaching
  • Workshops for students and community groups
  • Social Impact design challenges and hackathons
  • Strategic partnerships with nonprofits and academic programs

These activities help teams explore human-centered design, generate insights, and move toward solutions that create positive impact.

Featured Event: World Usability Day x UNC FLUX

In November 2025, TriUXPA partnered with UNC FLUX to host a World Usability Day design challenge centered on finding a solution for marginalized populations in the event of a systems collapse. More than 60 students immersed themselves in research, ideation, and rapid prototyping while receiving guidance from mentors.

The event created:

  • Hands on experience with human centered design
  • Real opportunities for mentorship and collaboration
  • Portfolio ready work for students
  • Stronger connections between designers and local communities
