    The Product Design team is looking for a passionate, hardworking, and collaborative Product Design User Researcher for our Raleigh, NC office. This role will support multiple products at Citrix. You will have the opportunity to influence the design and direction of the products to meet customers’ needs.

    Responsibilities:

    • You will lead and be hands-on. You will manage a small but growing team, while also being accountable for directly conducting large, strategic research projects yourself.
    • To be successful in this role, you’ll need a good balance of strategy and tactical execution, sharp communication skills and the ability to collaborate widely across the business. A background working in product and/or B2B environments is preferred.
    • You will be responsible for working closely with the design team to conduct qualitative and quantitative studies that help iterate and validate design concepts.
    • You will also work closely with senior researchers to choose methods that helps us answer our research questions and meet our business goals.
    • You will conduct usability tests with customers both remotely and in-person, and apply other methods such as card sorting, tree testing, and competitive analysis, as needed.
    • You will work directly with customers to make sure that our new product ideas will be useful and usable.
    • You will present your findings to stakeholders to ensure that the research is understood and able to be implemented in our products.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum 5-8 years of applied user research or relevant industry experience in product design with a strong foundation in HCI methodologies and is willing to learn on how to expand skills to become a well-rounded UX researcher.
    • Master’s or PhD degree preferred in a relevant field such as Human Computer Interaction (HCI). However, other Bachelor research degrees in Psychology and Anthropology will be considered with applied or relevant industry experience.
    • Has solid portfolio or samples showcasing work, ideally ranging from exploratory research, conceptual development, to usability studies which demonstrate ability to conduct research, synthesize data, and present findings.
    • Willing to travel to conferences or customer sites to conduct research.
    • Demonstrated people management experience
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate research teams with other cross-functional efforts in the business.
    • Demonstrates a passion for learning about Citrix products, domains, and users, and has a drive to understand users’ core needs along with an analytical mindset for processing the data gathered.
    • Demonstrates ability to be self-directed and lead research studies with little to no supervision to build a deeper understanding of users.
    • Can synthesize findings into meaningful themes, write actionable and impactful reports, and expertly share these results with a variety of audiences.
    • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful, creative, collaborative, and empathetic for project planning; while maintaining a positive attitude and knowing when to reach out for help from your team.

The Intelligent Device Group includes offerings for PCs, PC-related accessories, smart home products, smart office solutions, smart phone (Motorola), AR/VR and Lenovo-unique software. By summer of 2019, Lenovo’s IDG and Data Center Group (DCG) will have US headquarters at an updated campus on Development Drive in Morrisville, NC. 

    A newly combined Next UX and UX Research team is growing as a strategic asset for Lenovo IDG. By exploring intersections between design, technology and user value, the team hunts new UX solutions for IDG that Lenovo could deliver over the next 2-3 years. We are adding 3 UX research positions to enrich our discovery & validation efforts. We seek someone who is passionate about applying research rigor to untap insight and in turn collaborate with UX designers to map new user scenarios, design hardware & software, evaluate new technology and help vet ideas. We want open-minded and creative teammates who love uncovering the best problems to solve and crafting better experiences.

    Requirements for the role:
    • Degree in Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, HCI, Design Research or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience conducting user research around use of technology.

    Preferred experience & interests:
    • Skill in crafting the right research objectives mapped to most effective methodologies.
    • Ability to succinctly present data, insight & research principals to a range of audiences. 
    • Comfort working with qualitative and quantitative data.
    • Professional moderating / facilitating skills.
    • Experience working with external research vendors.
    • Enjoy framing the front-end of complex problem areas and simplifying to a solution. 
    • Have an appetite for technology. Be an avid digital consumer and experience evaluator.
    • Self-motivator with clear opinions about your work who also seeks team energy.
