The position is on site at the DOL facility at 3rd and Constitution in Washington DC and is conveniently located near the Judiciary Square Metro station.


    Responsibilities:

    • Work on a team redesigning the Energy Compensation System (ECS) User Interface.
    • Will take the lead for the User Interface re-write effort and provide a solid foundation for it in terms of architecture
    • Participates in all phases of software development life cycle for new development and upgrades.
    • Assists in the scheduling and coordinating of projects and may be involved in the design phase of a project.
    • Works with customers and technical staff in the resolution of software problems and respond to suggestions for software modifications or enhancements.


    Requirements:

    • High Level JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
    • Senior UI developer – with cradle-to-grave project design/implementation experience
    • Experience with known JavaScript frameworks
    • Knows how to interface the front end JavaScript with web services
    • Practical application of design patterns including MVC
    • Understands the principles of usability and how to facilitate them in UI design and implementation
    • Ability to take the lead for the UI re-write effort and provide a solid foundation for it in terms of architecture
    • 508-compliance exposure
    • Agile experience, SCRUM is preferred
    • Experience with automated UI testing (Karma, etc.)

    • Strong knowledge/experience with Object oriented concepts

    Position Description

    We are currently seeking a Visual Designer to support a multi-year, multi-million dollar innovation initiative to create the next generation of our donor digital experience. In this newly created role, you will be a critical part of the Product Management team responsible for creating simple, social, and smart experiences that inspire Fidelity Charitable donors to make more of a difference with their philanthropic dollars.


    The Visual Designer will work closely with stakeholders in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment.     Primary Responsibilities 


    Join forces with the team to solve complex design problems for web and mobile experiences 

    Participate in discovery phase and requirements gathering meetings 

    Participate in user experience related activities such as development of personas, scenarios and user flow 

    Collaborate with team in creating high-fidelity mock ups and specifications that represent visual display and workflows; iterate mock ups based on project team feedback 

    Assist in development of a user interface design style guide that incorporates the visual design elements used across product user interfaces, help develop a visual design library for common user interface elements (buttons, icons, etc.) and conceive, document, and evangelize user interface guidelines and standards 

    Intermediate-level user experience skills with hands-on experience building wireframes and mock-ups is required 

    A portfolio of work must demonstrate a depth of experience in visual design principles with emphasis on user-interface design for software applications, including complex data-driven web sites and multi-screen applications.


    Education and Experience

    4+ years experience as a visual designer, experience designer or a similar role 

    Degree in a related field, such as Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design or Human Factors a plus
