    Role and Responsibilities

    - Define and maintain design standards and a vision for consistency across all WebAssign products.


    - Balance user experience design with business needs, technical limitations, and time-to-market requirements.


    - Actively engage in user research efforts, including analytics and user testing such as A/B testing, online user testing, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews.


    - Translate user research findings into actionable design solutions.


    - Advocate for end-users of the application and ensure final products meet usability requirements.


    - Leverage the latest technologies to implement innovative features.



    Qualifications


    - Track record of consistently delivering high-quality online user experiences.


    - A UX background that includes deep experience working within a feature-rich web application.


    - Deep knowledge of Web Design, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript interaction potential.


    - Familiarity and experience with multiple wireframing tools, such as Balsamiq and OmniGraffle.


    - Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities with a wide variety of roles, including UX team members, Product Management, and developers.


    - Out-of-the-box thinker who is able to challenge the status quo, listen openly and adapt iteratively to direct user feedback, as well as lead wise business and design decisions.


    - Strong knowledge of user experience methods, design principles, and problem-framing skills, as well as accessibility standards and considerations.



    Education and Experience Requirements


    - BA in Design, Computer Science, or a related field.


    - At least 2 years of UX experience, preferably with a web-based, Software-as-a-Service application.


    - Masters or other advanced degrees are a plus.

    - Deep understanding and appreciation of how site architecture and content contribute to the user experience

    - Understanding of responsive design principles

    - Strong Axure (or similar) and Adobe Illustrator skills

    - Effective at problem solving, collaboration, and iteration

    - Very articulate, both verbally and in writing

    - Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to track details on several projects simultaneously

    - 5+ years of relevant professional experience

    - Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Information Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, a similar emphasis, or equivalent professional experience

    PURPOSE

    The Business Analyst II position will analyze, document, and manage business requirements throughout the life of the project. This position will adhere to established System Life Cycle (SLC) and Computer System Validation (CSV) procedures, where applicable, in identifying innovative solutions that meet the specified requirements and add value to the business. As a member of project teams, the Business Analyst will facilitate communication and awareness of the standards and quality expectations of the stakeholders.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    - Perform requirements gathering and analysis in order to provide high quality and detailed requirements, ensuring the closest involvement with, and agreement from, the user community

    - Produce data/information models and preliminary system architecture, as needed, to provide an accurate, graphical representation, thereby facilitating successful solution design and development

    - Create prototypes and simulations to provide an accurate, graphical user interface representation, thereby facilitating successful solution design and development

    - Resolve conflicting end-user requirements

    - Follow Quintiles System Life-Cycle (SLC) and Computer System Validation (CSV) procedures, as appropriate

    - Collaborate with the Lead User, or delegated member of the applicable business group, to create a User Requirements Specification (URS) document

    - Collaborate with the Development group to create a Functional Specification (FS) document

    - Assist with process modeling to clarify business requirements, and to enhance or re-engineer business processes, prior to, or in parallel with, solution design and implementation, as necessary

    - As needed, assist with the review of the Performance Qualification (PQ) document(s) prior to authorization and execution, to ensure that it incorporates previously-captured requirements, and includes tests or test steps that explicitly address each identified user requirement

    - Collaborate with Global IT Solutions functional groups by adhering to established processes to ensure that business requirements are delivered through successful project implementation of optimal, cost-effective solutions

    - Collaborate with developers to ensure adherence to business requirements and UI design specifications

    - Develop training and support programs for global technology and process implementations, as needed

    - Assist in the gathering of initial Business Case requirements & other pre-project activities (e.g., high-level requirements, project scope, objectives)


    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    - Strong technical and business writing skills

    - Knowledge of technical and grammatical editing

    • Experience in running a variety of user research methods, such as usability testing, remote moderated and unmoderated studies, performance benchmarks, competitive benchmarks, structured surveys, user interviews, focus groups, ethnographic research, contextual inquiry, opinion benchmarks, longitudinal studies, diary studies, concept testing, card sorting and tree testing, and experience in planning the experimental designs, authoring the moderator guides, conducting statistical analyses, and writing final reports
    • Degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), user experience, human factors, usability engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
