    Responsibilities:

    -Facilitate strategic, user-centric decision making

    Qualifications:

    Experience with user research:

    -Preparing and analyzing online surveys
    -Moderating and summarizing user interviews
    -Conducting and analyzing card sorts
    -Research ability to help support concepts
    -Experience gathering and documenting business, functional and end user requirements
    -Solid understanding of makeup and function of interactive websites, mobile apps, and web apps
    -Successful track record in conducting stakeholder interviews and running collaborative workshops
    -Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    -Ability to work independently
    -Great attitude and plays well with others, collaboration is key
    -Passion for getting better and deeming a project success only when business and user goals are met

    Nice to have:

    SUMMARY

    Duke Web Services (DWS) is seeking an Information Architect to join the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Web Services team. The position is responsible for organizing and structuring content, and collaborating with the Creative Director on user experience design for Duke University and Health System websites. The process includes site and content discovery, usability and accessibility assessment and testing, taxonomy development, site and application prototyping, experience wireframing, content development and management, maintenance usability review, and general consultancy.

    The position requires a genuine passion for cutting-edge technology, the ability to assess the feasibility of projects, write requirements and specifications, and research and recommend solutions. This position reports to the Manager of Duke Web Services in OIT.

    WORK PERFORMED

    Work closely with the Creative Director and development team to deliver highly customized web-based solutions that support the mission of Duke by understanding the goals and needs for a project and translating requirements with the use of sitemaps, wireframes, user testing, documenting requirements and other tools/processes as needed into a development roadmap for both the client, art director and development team.

    Recommend and implement best practices for website and mobile user experience.

    Strong understanding of site functionality, site architecture, data flow and intuitive navigation schemes are expected. Maintain expertise on state of the art and emerging web and mobile technologies.

    Recommend standards for acceptable design and content of Duke application interfaces and processes in coordination with Duke standards and policies.

    Develop time estimates for project deliverables.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • 3 - 5 years experience working in a collaborative environment focusing on Information architecture and user experience (UX).
    • Strong experience in content discovery, usability and accessibility assessment and testing, taxonomy development, site and application prototyping, experience wire-framing, content development and management, maintenance usability review, and general consultancy.
    • Strong experience with wire framing and prototyping tools.
    • Experience with content management systems - Drupal and/or Wordpress a plus.

    Are you a UX Researcher and looking to join a 200+ person team who’s responsible for the design of a wide range of websites and applications at a large investment firm? Are you collaborative and wanting to deliver top notch online user experiences? Then this is the job for you!

    The User Experience Design team is responsible for designing our client’s award-winning websites, mobile applications and internal workstations. Their 200+ person team of elite user experience professionals works collaboratively with business and technology teams to design and deliver online experiences that enable customers’ financial success. We are currently looking for a contract User Research to join our fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and administer usability studies on a wide range of web-based platforms and applications
    • Analyze results and efficiently prepare reports detailing the outcome of usability studies
    • Present findings with actionable recommendations to business sponsors and senior management
    • Lead all phases of usability test preparation, including recruiting, scheduling, and test script development
    • Work closely with our internal business clients to translate their business requirements into experiences our customers love
    • Identify and implement a variety of methods for getting input and feedback from customers, including participatory design methods, interviews, observational studies, online feedback mechanisms, focus groups (in-person and remote), card-sorting exercises, lab usability studies, online usability studies, remote usability studies, and others as appropriate
    • Conduct user research to determine future directions for websites and applications, including mobile apps
    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., usability, human factors, ethnography, HCI, sociology) is preferred
    • Experience in the UX, usability, and/or user research fields
    • Experience in financial services or working with investment professionals is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn about and immediately immerse in the financial services space
    Skills and Knowledge:
    • Proactivity and optimism
    • High degree of professionalism combined with professional flexibility
    • Ability to swiftly revise and improvise research plans as the environment dictates
    • Sense of humor, can-do attitude and ongoing willingness to learn
    • No-fear around new technology, equipment and navigating the internal systems of a very large company
