    Prolific Interactive, a mobile-focused product agency, is seeking a user researcher to lead research strategies and conduct studies out of our newest office in Durham, NC. As an experienced UX Researcher, you’ll work with a cross-disciplinary and multi-office team to discover and communicate insights about users’ behaviors, wants, and needs. Your role is to empower the product team to create impactful digital experiences that help extend our partner’s services. This role will be contract (6-month commitment) to start, with the possibility to convert to full time.

    At Prolific, you’ll be 100% dedicated to one project at a time. Your first project will entail uncovering and identifying key areas of opportunity within the user journey for individuals pursuing their serious, long-term financial objectives. In short, you will help redefine the customer-facing digital experience of one of the foremost financial services firms in the world.

    You’ll be focused on crafting a principled research process, conducting customer/user research, recruiting users, planning and facilitating interviews, running usability tests, and incorporating other research methods as you see fit. You'll work closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Growth Strategists to validate new concepts and improve existing products. Your highest priority will be to champion research-informed design throughout your work.

    - Develop research plans & strategies and conduct studies for a critical product area

    Real Talk is a mobile app that uses stories written by real teens to help middle school students learn about sexual health topics. Real Talk provides carefully curated stories about puberty and healthy relationships and connects teens with high-quality online resources on these topics. Our mission is to create a safe space for young teens to easily access and engage with content that will positively shape their sexual health knowledge and behaviors, and ultimately reduce rates of teen pregnancy among our users. Real Talk is owned by MyHealthEd, Inc., a tech nonprofit focused on transforming youth health education through technology.

    Our team uses human-centered design and lean startup methodologies to generate hypotheses, gather user feedback, design prototypes and experiments, and rapidly test app features. We launched our iOS beta in September 2017 and will spend the next 3-6 months improving the content and building a more robust feature set.

    The designer will be part of an exciting opportunity to optimize the first product of our early-stage company and make a difference in health and education outcomes for teens across the country. This is a contract position (January to May 2018, 10-15 hours / week) with the potential for transition to full-time employment.

    Job Description

    On our team, you will be the sole designer responsible for a mix of user experience and interaction design. You will be the expert on interface designs, typography, and screen layouts for mobile apps, web sites, other interactive media and additional communications materials, with a deep understanding of mobile-first and web responsive design. Your primary mission will be to design interactive and engaging features to drive user growth and retention, including promotional materials (e.g., on social media) to acquire new users. Ideal candidates will be passionate about doing work that has a meaningful impact on the world and bring positivity and enthusiasm to the team.

    Your tasks will include:

    We are looking for UX assistance designing the last stages of our web/phone based educational product, ClinicalEncounters.com. This person will provide input on design of the user interface from both the student and faculty perspective. Much of the work is already done, but significant pieces still need finishing touches and testing.

    The main product is designed in Unity, so familiarity with Unity and/or Canvas is a significant plus. Experience with mobile platforms is also a plus.

    User Experience Research Role with BB&T – help design a digital experience people will love!

    We’re looking for a User Experience Researcher who loves learning about users and their needs and can turn that learning into insights that guide product designs. We are rethinking BBT.com, updating online banking and our mobile applications, and redesigning online banking for corporate clients, and are looking for someone who can conduct user research that will guide these efforts and help the product teams prioritize their work and improve their designs. It’s a big task, and we will support you with top-notch research colleagues to collaborate with, product teams that are hungry for the insights your research can provide them and eager to support you, and a management team who wholeheartedly believes in the value of the research and provides strong financial support. Your work in this area will improve the experiences of millions of customers.

    What you’ll be doing:
    • First and foremost, you’ll work with a variety of product teams to understand what information about our users will help guide their designs and devise creative and efficient approaches to get answers to their questions.
    • You will partner with them to conduct the user research and summarize the learnings.
    • You will help design and run benchmark usability tests and surveys that will track the performance of and satisfaction with our interfaces for functions that are important to our users and our business.
    • You will help us identify and better understand the digital needs of our users, and identify gaps between their needs and our current capabilities.
    • You will help monitor the sentiment of our users and identify patterns that need to be understood by the product teams.
    • You will also follow how the industry is transforming, looking for UX research best practices that can improve efficiency and enable additional research.

    What we are looking for:
    • Experience in the role of a user experience researcher, defining and executing research that is able to measure the usability of digital interfaces and provide insights into possible ways to improve that performance, and defining and executing research that is able to identify user needs, both met and unmet
    • Experience in running a variety of user research methods, such as usability testing, remote moderated and unmoderated studies, performance benchmarks, competitive benchmarks, structured surveys, user interviews, focus groups, ethnographic research, contextual inquiry, opinion benchmarks, longitudinal studies, diary studies, concept testing, card sorting and tree testing, and experience in planning the experimental designs, authoring the moderator guides, conducting statistical analyses, and writing final reports
    • Degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), user experience, human factors, usability engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
