    Lenovo is hiring an Associate User Experience Research Specialist.The role supports UX research projects that strive to understand and improve online customer experience on the company’s global websites. This position is managed by the Senior UX Research Manager and you’ll work closely with UX project managers, designers, developers, web analysts and business stakeholders. Core tasks include assisting with all aspects of UX research including test design, test implementation, data analysis, reporting and presentation of results.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Participate in all phases of UX research (design, implementation, reporting)
    • Collaborate with and be responsive to business stakeholders
    • Create smart and efficient usability studies that accurately address UX issues
    • Support efficient, timely execution of research projects
    • Execute research projects using a wide range of tools and methods
    • Perform competitive analysis
    • Communicate UX test results and how to use them to improve UI
    • Propose new UX research projects

    Tasks:
    • Define customer profiles for tests
    • Recruit participants or work with vendors on recruiting
    • Create screening questions, test questions, tasks and test materials
    • Set up studies in usertesting.com, UserZoom, dscout, surveymonkey, usabilityhub and other test platforms
    • Review recordings and code observed behaviors
    • Create reports of test results that describe the findings and recommend actions
    • Communicate with stakeholders during all phases of testing

    Qualifications:
    • BA or B.SC in a social science such as Psychology, Anthropology, Ethnography or in Human-Computer Interaction
    • Some graduate school in the fields above preferred
    • UX Research experience
    • Working knowledge of experimental design and statistics; familiarity with basic experimental design principles:
      - Creating and testing hypotheses
      - Sampling
      - Within vs. between subjects design
      - Counterbalancing
      - Coding observed behaviors
      - Independent vs. dependent variables
    • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Understanding of effective web design and key UX principles
    • Familiar with HTML, CSS and basic aspects of web development
    • Experience with eCommerce is a big plus
    • Familiarity with Jira a plus
    • Project Management experience
    • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment
    • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects with different deadlines and prioritize tasks independently

    6. Advocate for content in the online channel and BB&T. Proactively present content strategies, recommendations and best practices with corporate marketing, product managers, subject matter experts and project teams.
    7. Keep current with best practices, social media trends, web usability, SEO and industry trends.
    8. Contribute and adhere to the editorial strategy, style guide and standards to ensure quality, consistency and brand alignment across product families within BB&T.
    9. Utilize solid command of user experience standards, industry guidelines, content principles and best practices.
    10. Provide leadership on content solutions by understanding, applying and disseminating content strategies and best practices in cross-functional teams.
    11. Utilize appropriate technologies and content methodologies to capture, store, deliver and preserve BB&T content.
    12. Practice quality assurance procedures at each deliverable stage to maintain content integrity and ensure that content meets project specifications and standards.
    13. Provide accurate estimates of project work with accountability for the content portion of the project budget.
    14. Identify content requirement changes and assess against original project scope.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Multimedia or related field, or equivalent education and related training
    2. Five years of online/digital content development and strategy experience

    4. Understanding of content disciplines, including copywriting, catalog architecture, public relations, social media and SEO
    5. Advanced experience in utilizing Content Management Systems
    6. Strong interpersonal communications skills with ability to present solutions in a clear, concise and persuasive fashion
    7. Strong leadership skills
    8. Great attitude and passion for collaboration
    9. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
    10. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

    Real Talk is a mobile app that uses stories written by real teens to help middle school students learn about sexual health topics. Real Talk provides carefully curated stories about puberty and healthy relationships and connects teens with high-quality online resources on these topics. Our mission is to create a safe space for young teens to easily access and engage with content that will positively shape their sexual health knowledge and behaviors, and ultimately reduce rates of teen pregnancy among our users. Real Talk is owned by MyHealthEd, Inc., a tech nonprofit focused on transforming youth health education through technology.

    Our team uses human-centered design and lean startup methodologies to generate hypotheses, gather user feedback, design prototypes and experiments, and rapidly test app features. We launched our iOS beta in September 2017 and will spend the next 3-6 months improving the content and building a more robust feature set.

    The designer will be part of an exciting opportunity to optimize the first product of our early-stage company and make a difference in health and education outcomes for teens across the country. This is a contract position (January to May 2018, 10-15 hours / week) with the potential for transition to full-time employment.

    Job Description

    On our team, you will be the sole designer responsible for a mix of user experience and interaction design. You will be the expert on interface designs, typography, and screen layouts for mobile apps, web sites, other interactive media and additional communications materials, with a deep understanding of mobile-first and web responsive design. Your primary mission will be to design interactive and engaging features to drive user growth and retention, including promotional materials (e.g., on social media) to acquire new users. Ideal candidates will be passionate about doing work that has a meaningful impact on the world and bring positivity and enthusiasm to the team.

    Your tasks will include:

    -Identifying areas for improvement in the current product design and user experience, as well as devising elegant solutions that lead to a seamless, delightful user experience.
    -Translating insights from our design research into intuitive and user-focused designs.
    -Creating sketches, wireframes, user journeys, user scenarios, and mockups suitable for digital products on a wide range of devices and interfaces.
    -User human-centered design principles to rapidly test and iterate on your designs.

    We also expect you to:

    -Design user-experiences ranging from low-fidelity sketches to hi-fidelity mockups ready for handoff.
    -Communicate clearly and effectively about your design decisions, all of which should be grounded in our organization’s goals as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principles (i.e. color theory, visual weight, etc.).
    -Be open to receiving objective critique and improving upon it.
    -Collaborate with internal teams to interpret data from recently released product features to identify potential areas of improvement.
    -Work with the product manager and development teams to ensure the feasibility of your designs and that design specifications are implemented with fidelity.
    -Participate in bug tracking, bug fixing, and UI QA.
    -Be knowledgeable of current UX trends and look for creative ideas and inspiration in parallel analogous worlds.
    -Collaborate effectively with remote or distributed teams.

    Requirements:

    -Strong work portfolio that demonstrates stylistic breadth and attention to detail, experience with diverse content and subject matter, and a deep understanding of UI/UX best practices.
    -Experience using standard design tools, including Photoshop, Sketch, and InVision.
    -Strong ability to recognize and predict use cases and user interaction, including typical use as well as edge and corner cases, and incorporate them into designs.
    -Deep understanding of information architecture and user psychology.
    -Excellent verbal and written communication skills – this is crucial for working across technical and non-technical teams.
    -Ability to manage time wisely across projects and competing priorities, meet agreed upon deadlines, and be accountable for work.

    Preferred qualifications:


    -Experience working with teens in formal or informal settings.
    -Experience in the agile process of software development, working with development teams, and providing specifications and visual assets.
    -Experience working with remote teams.
    -Experience with an early-stage startup.

    We are looking for UX assistance designing the last stages of our web/phone based educational product, ClinicalEncounters.com. This person will provide input on design of the user interface from both the student and faculty perspective. Much of the work is already done, but significant pieces still need finishing touches and testing.

    The main product is designed in Unity, so familiarity with Unity and/or Canvas is a significant plus. Experience with mobile platforms is also a plus.

    This is a contract position, temporary, with possible future projects. Most of the work can be done via telecommuting with occasional face to face meetings in Chapel Hill if possible.

    What we are looking for:
    • Experience in the role of a user experience researcher, defining and executing research that is able to measure the usability of digital interfaces and provide insights into possible ways to improve that performance, and defining and executing research that is able to identify user needs, both met and unmet
    • Experience in running a variety of user research methods, such as usability testing, remote moderated and unmoderated studies, performance benchmarks, competitive benchmarks, structured surveys, user interviews, focus groups, ethnographic research, contextual inquiry, opinion benchmarks, longitudinal studies, diary studies, concept testing, card sorting and tree testing, and experience in planning the experimental designs, authoring the moderator guides, conducting statistical analyses, and writing final reports
    • Degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), user experience, human factors, usability engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
