    Do you love to design for the web? Are you accustomed to an iterative discovery and development process? Our small, yet strong team excels at producing clean, user-friendly interfaces for complex web apps and tackling new and diverse projects. If you have between 10 and 30 hours per week available, we would like to develop a long-term relationship with you on a project by project basis. This position requires on site work in our Durham, NC office.

    As a web designer, you will:

    -Work jointly with the development team to get a feel for Caktus' development process.
    -Follow agile development methodologies and take part in weekly team meetings and standups.
    -Attend discovery workshops with customers to determine project requirements, participate in user story mapping, and define new projects with the rest of the team.
    -Participate in regular co-design sessions with our UX designers and web developers. Collaboratively build UIs, collect input on development feasibility, and answer UI-related questions.
    -Establish visual styles using customer-provided branding guidelines for projects. Utilize a variety of techniques, such as mood boards, style tiles, UI kits, etc.
    -Design UI elements and page components for user stories in an iterative fashion.
    -For each project, design base styles and reusable components in a live style guide in HTML/CSS based on Caktus’ general purpose style guide. Use these components to develop consistent and clean UI.
    -Collaborate closely to design and implement user stories within development cycles. Share working, live software (as opposed to static mockups) with customers. Collect and incorporate client comments and feedback.

    If you are a professional visual designer for web who loves working on a small team and is excited to make highly customized web apps we urge you to apply. Previous experience working as an independent contractor is also desirable. Your deep understanding of front-end HTML/CSS techniques will improve our team's expertise.     PURPOSE

    The UX designer is responsible for creating the user experiences for new products and enhancements. This is a customer advocate role within project teams ensuring that products are useful, usable, and desirable via a thorough understanding and practice of the user centered design process. Work with product strategy, product management, product development and users to design innovative, industry leading products.
