    Job Summary: 

    The Assistant/Associate Professor is a non-tenure track, fixed-term faculty position. The Assistant/Associate Professor teaches a full-time load (24 credit hours per academic year) and engages in professional development, scholarship, and service activities.

    The appointment is effective July 1, 2023 for Fall 2023 classes. The incumbent is expected to teach the equivalent of three 4 credit hour courses per semester, to engage in service through committee assignment, student advising, recruiting, and to participate in campus-wide events. The ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree in Interactive Design, Interactive Programming, Computer Arts or Computer Science.

    The Assistant/Associate Professor of Interactive Design will teach courses in the Interactive Design and the Simulation & Game Design program. This person will also support the Department in devising strategies for growing and improving the program, evaluating course outcomes and contribute toward a greater awareness of the WPU Interactive Design program. This faculty member will also share responsibility for advising students majoring in Interactive Design and Simulation & Game Design.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Teach 24 credit hours per year (3 – 4 credit courses per semester) in the discipline of Interactive Design.
    • Advise students, primarily those pursuing a major or minor in Interactive Design or Simulation & Game Design.
    • Serve on academic and college-wide committees.
    • Maintain active professional, scholarship, and service activities.
    • Effectively work with a diverse population of students, families, employees, visitors, and guests.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree in Interactive Design, Simulation and Game Design, Computer Science or related field with experience teaching at the college or university level.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following skill set:

    • Mastery of Interactive Design & Development subject matter
    • Deep commitment to fostering student success
    • Ability to use instructional technologies to support classroom activities

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Terminal degree in a relevant field with two or more years of higher education teaching experience; experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; experience in designing usable mobile interfaces from pre-to post-launch.

    JOB DESCRIPTION: 

    The Senior UX Researcher uses UX methodologies to lead the design and execution of customer research to solve complex business problems. This role will help stakeholders identify research opportunities then prioritize and execute research studies, including careful analysis and insight discovery, as well as help to educate internal teams about the role and importance of UX research.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    Planning and conducting effective user research strategies – such as one-on-one interviews, focus groups, surveys, etc. - in order to solve complex business problems.
    Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand the “why” of customer pain points and provide analyses that help the business prioritize what to solve first.
    Planning and executing complex, multi-function research projects with minimal oversight.
    Analyzing research results and reporting out clear, actionable insights that contribute to product strategy and improvement.
    Producing low-fidelity strategic design documents, such as user flows and wireframes, to provide clarity and alignment.
    Organizing complex product concepts by taxonomy and/or other guiding principles.
    Conducting intelligent design analyses of existing products against a heuristic framework (or other criteria).
    Evaluating and improving user-facing work by analysis of relevant qualitative and quantitative data.
    • Facilitating design thinking workshops and other engaging activities
    • Collaborating with the UX team members, partners, and stakeholders to continually improve UX processes and resources.
    • Sharing research insights in creative ways to increase empathy in our stakeholders and impact outcomes for our customers.
    • Championing UX Research across the organization: educating, influencing, and guiding stakeholders and partners
    • Other duties as assigned.

    YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:

    • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience
    • Four or more years of UX design or UX research experience (or the equivalent).
    • Capability with the Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Miro.
    • Ability to closely collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders on complex strategic challenges and detailed product requirements.
    • Confidence in understanding and the ability to advocate for UX best practices, with a special emphasis on accessibility and inclusion.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Creative problem solver, driven by curiosity.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    User-View Inc. of Raleigh NC is seeking a Mid - Senior Level Human Factors Specialist!

    User-View is a Human Factors and Design consulting company based out of Raleigh, NC. Our team is comprised of freelance human factors and user experience specialists, as well as user experience designers from across the US. Because you will work from home and travel to client sites, you do not need to be based in Raleigh.

    We support clients across multiple industries. We are looking for candidates who can hit the ground running to help support our clients in medical device and health information technology industries. We envision the candidate will join our team, partner with us to plan and execute human factors research, and quickly grow to lead client projects.

    This is what we are looking for:

    • 5+ years of experience planning and executing human factors research and usability testing to support product design and development.
    • 3+ years of experience planning and executing human factors and usability research in either medical device or health information technology industries.
    • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams (program managers, engineers/developers, industrial/visual designers, technical writers, and quality engineers).
    • Be knowledgeable with the FDA 2016 Human Factors guidance document (Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Medical Devices and/or Human Factors Studies and Related Clinical Study Considerations in Combination Product Design and Development)

    OR

    Knowledgeable with the ONC 21st Century Cures Act or Safety Enhanced Design Certification.
    • Graduate degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
    • Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

    Finally, and most important, candidates must be self-starters who are comfortable working from home, comfortable collaborating with others using remote meeting tools, and able to travel.
